Equine Services

Wellness Care
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," and this is especially true for horses. As part of our routine care, we provide essential services such as vaccinations, deworming, Coggins testing, and dental care to help maintain your horse's health.

Time-of-Need Care
In case of medical colic, sickness, lameness, injury, metabolic problems, or chronic illness, we’re here to provide prompt care. We are equipped to administer short-term intravenous fluids, and most lab results are available in less than one hour at our clinic. Emergency care for our regular clients is available 24/7, and we maintain strong relationships with referral facilities for specialized care or surgery.

Geriatric Care
Older horses can face sub-clinical health issues that, when detected early, can be treated before becoming major problems. If your horse is over 15 years old, we recommend a thorough physical exam and blood testing to establish baseline health values.

Dental Care

Proper dental care is vital to a horse's overall health and performance. Veterinary equine dental care involves regular examinations and floating (filing) of the teeth to prevent sharp points, uneven wear, and other issues that can cause pain, difficulty eating, or behavioral problems. A licensed equine veterinarian is trained to identify and treat dental abnormalities, ensuring your horse maintains a healthy mouth, optimal nutrition, and a better quality of life. Routine dental check-ups—usually recommended annually—are a key part of preventive care for horses of all ages.

Lameness Examination
We offer a comprehensive evaluation of your horse’s locomotion to identify the source(s) of lameness. Our diagnostic tools include physical exams, palpation, flexion tests, joint and nerve blocks, as well as digital radiography and lab tests to further investigate the cause.

Pre-Purchase Examinations
Before purchasing a horse, we offer an extensive physical exam, lameness evaluation, and neurological assessment. The information gathered helps the prospective buyer or agent decide whether the horse is suitable for its intended purpose. These exams often include laboratory testing, digital radiographs, endoscopy, and ultrasound.

Surgery
We perform both standing and recumbent surgeries for procedures such as castration, biopsy, and laceration repairs. More complex surgeries are referred to specialists for advanced care.

Specialized Procedures

  • Ultrasonography: Uses sound waves to assess soft tissues such as reproductive organs, lumps, and tumors. It’s a painless, non-invasive procedure.

  • Digital Radiography: Provides quick, detailed images of bones to detect issues like fractures, arthritis, bone cysts, and infections. Our digital radiography system delivers high-quality images in minutes and allows for enhanced analysis.

  • Endoscopy: We have both a gastroscope and a respiratory scope. A fiber-optic device used to examine the horse’s upper airway, including the larynx, sinuses, guttural pouches, trachea, and upper esophagus. It's particularly useful for pre-purchase exams, pneumonia, and reactive airway diseases.

  • Tonometry: Measures intraocular pressure in the eye to help diagnose conditions such as glaucoma and uveitis.

Chiropractic Care
Equine chiropractic care is a specialized, hands-on therapy that focuses on aligning the spine and musculoskeletal system to enhance a horse’s comfort, mobility, and performance. By correcting misalignments, or subluxations, practitioners help relieve tension, improve gait, and restore balance—benefiting horses of all disciplines, from competitive athletes to retired companions. Common signs that a horse may benefit from chiropractic care include stiffness, uneven movement, behavioral changes, or difficulty under saddle. This natural, drug-free approach works in harmony with veterinary care to support your horse’s overall health and longevity.
