Small Animal Services
The most common species cared for at our Hospital are cats and dogs. We also have experience with a wide variety of other species as well. “Pocket pets” including hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs all require veterinary care, as do pet birds, ferrets, rabbits and reptiles. These pets often have unique care requirements and illnesses
Wellness Exams
Wellness exams are an essential part of maintaining your pet’s health and well-being. At our clinic, we offer comprehensive annual check-ups to monitor your pet’s overall health, detect any early signs of illness, and provide preventative care. These exams include a thorough physical assessment, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional guidance. Regular wellness exams help ensure that your pet enjoys a long, happy, and healthy life. Trust us to keep your furry friend in top shape with personalized care tailored to their needs.
Diagnostics
The Lloydminster Animal Hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including a digital X-ray, dental radiograph, ultrasound machine, and an endoscope for exams. The Hospital also has a state-of-the-art IDEXX laboratory for fast blood and urine testing, ensuring quick and accurate diagnoses, particularly in emergencies. For more complex tests, we use the IDEXX reference laboratory in Calgary, providing results within two working days. This collaboration allows our Hospital to offer expert consultations, biopsy diagnostics, and telemedicine services, reducing the need for client referrals and saving both time and money.
Surgical Procedures
Lloydminster Animal Hospital offers both elective and non-elective surgical services. Elective procedures include spays, neuters, dental work, and lump removals for pets and some exotic species. Non-elective surgeries include exploratory surgeries, Caesarean sections, and lacerations.
We also provide specialized orthopedic surgeries for fractures, cruciate ligament injuries, and luxating patella. Fractures are treated with methods like bone plating, interlocking nails, external fixators, or sometimes splinting or casting.
Dental Procedures
Lloydminster Animal Hospital offers comprehensive dental services for pets, including thorough exams under general anesthesia, as pets can't be fully assessed or cleaned while awake. They use digital dental radiographs to check for bone loss and tooth root fractures. If teeth need to be removed, local anesthesia is used to minimize post-procedure pain. Teeth cleaning is done with technology similar to what is used in human dental offices.
Laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment option that promotes healing and alleviates pain for your pet. Using advanced laser technology, we can help treat a variety of conditions, including arthritis, soft tissue injuries, and post-surgical recovery. The laser stimulates circulation, reduces inflammation, and accelerates tissue repair, offering relief without the need for medications or surgery. Whether your pet is recovering from an injury or managing a chronic condition, laser therapy is a safe and effective way to support their healing process and improve their quality of life.
